Finance Director/Town Accountant

The Town of Lunenburg is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Finance Director/Town Accountant. This position is responsible for the management of the fiscal and financial function of the town and for the supervision and coordination of all activities in relation to any fiscal or financial matter. Performs a range of fiscal functions associated with the overall financial performance of the Town including professional, administrative, and technical work in directing operations of the Finance Department, including school financial matters. Serves as the Town Accountant and complies with all statutory and by-law requirements of the position. Oversees the treasury, collection, and accounting divisions.

Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or related field (Master’s preferred); five to seven years increasingly responsible professional municipal accounting experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Mass. Certified Governmental Accountant preferred, or ability to obtain within one year, required. Candidate must have in-depth understanding of GASB requirements for municipalities, working knowledge of Massachusetts municipal finance law, and proven ability to manage projects, develop financial policies and meet deadlines. Three (3) or more years as a Town Accountant with strong supervisory experience preferred.
