The Lunenburg Police Department is accepting applications for the position of a Full Time Police Officer. There is currently one (1) open full time Police Officer position, with anticipation of additional position in July. The Chief of Police recommends the candidate to the Town Manager, who is the appointing authority, and is ratified by the Select Board.
Person(s) who wish to be considered for a Full Time Police Officer position must submit to the Chief of Police a letter of intent, an updated resume, and a completed Town of Lunenburg Employment Application by April 10, 2023, at 1700 hours.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Must be a High School graduate or equivalent
• Possess a Valid Driver’s license
• Possess a License to Carry a Firearm (LTC) Class A at the time of employment
Requirements
• Meet the certification requirements set forth by the Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission (POSTC), and Municipal Police Training Committee (MPTC)
• MPTC Academy graduate preferred
• Equivalent academy must meet the requirements and standards set by the MPTC

• Pass Pre-employment Medical Examination
• Pass Psychological Examination
• Successfully complete the MPTC Entry-Level Fitness Standards
• Successfully complete the MPTC PAT
• Successfully complete MPTC approved Basic Recruit Academy (No Academy Candidate).
Starting salary is in accordance with N.E.P.B.A. Local 353 CBA, Article XXII Wages, plus a comprehensive benefit package.
A one (1) year probationary period is required upon appointment to the full time position for a lateral transfer. A one (1) year probationary period upon successful completion of an MPTC Basic Recruit Academy for new hires without academy training. Successful completion of the Department’s Field Training Officer (FTO) program is required. State law prohibits any person who has been convicted of a felony from being appointed as a Police Officer.
