Heavy Equipment Operator

The Town of Lunenburg’s Department of Public Works is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Heavy Equipment Operator. This position performs a variety of duties associated with the maintenance, repair and construction of DPW assets, including but not limited to: operating a wide variety of vehicles including trucks, plows, tractors, backhoes, front end loaders and similar equipment, using power driven and hand tools, plowing, minor service maintenance to vehicles, excavation, tree work.

Must be available to perform work outside of normal work hours, especially during emergencies and adverse weather conditions. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, 3 year’s experience operating heavy equipment and trucks in construction or road maintenance, and a thorough knowledge of the operation of Class B CDL vehicles and heavy equipment. Must have valid Class B Massachusetts CDL and Class 2B Hoisting Engineers License or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire. Applicants that currently possess the required licenses will be given first preference. Prior Public Works experience a plus. Residency within 30 minutes of the DPW Building preferred.

This is a Grade 13, Laborers International union position, $22.5544/hr-$28.1674/hr DOEQ; 40-hour work-week, M-F 7:00AM to 3:00PM; excellent benefits.
