Firefighter/EMT, Firefighter/Paramedic (Preferred)

The Lunenburg Fire Department, 655 Massachusetts Ave. Lunenburg, MA 01462 is seeking applications to fill one (1) Full-time Firefighter/EMT-Basic or Paramedic position effective July 1, 2022, with a hiring list to be maintained until June 30, 2023. Applicants meeting the qualifications outlined below and included in the Firefighter/EMT & Firefighter/Paramedic job descriptions, are to mail or hand deliver their intent with resume and attached references outlining qualifications to Fire Chief Patrick Sullivan. Interested applicants are requested to submit resume, 3 references (must attest to skills, experience, and interpersonal skills, as outlined below; include name, address, phone and availability), High School diploma or higher, fire department work experience, copy of EMT Card, CPR card, driver’s license, and pertinent certifications by May 31st, 2022 at 1600 hours.

Job Description, Job Responsibilities, and Job Qualifications: In addition to the Qualifications and Requirements outlined in the job description, the selected applicant must meet the minimum requirements outlined below:

Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent; Active Class D driver’s license or higher; current CPR card; Current MA EMT- Basic, Advanced EMT or EMT- Paramedic Certification. EMT–B or AEMT candidates shall at a time in the future successfully attend paramedic school and be licensed as a paramedic as a requirement of the job.
Candidates must have the following qualifications or be able to obtain them within 6 months of hire:
- Firefighter I/II Certification
- Driver/Operator Qualification with the Lunenburg Fire Department
- Hazardous Materials Operations Level Responder

Two (2) or more years’ experience as an active Firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician preferred. Additional consideration shall be given for the following qualifications:
- Fire Prevention Officer Basic
- Fire Prevention Officer I

Applicants must possess good oral and written communications skills, present a positive public image, have both a mechanical and computer aptitude, work well with others, able to demonstrate public confidence and respect, work independently, and be self-motivated.

Applicants shall be a non-smoker as well as drug and marijuana free; submit to a background check, and successfully pass State Physical and Agility Exams. Candidates shall respond to off-hour incidents as directed by the Chief in accordance with the current department policy.

Paramedic applicants that are not certified as an EMT-Paramedic by the State of Massachusetts must obtain their certification from Massachusetts by December 31, 2022.

Starting salary $23.071 (Step 1 FF/EMT)- $26.66 (Step 3 FF/PM) per hour DOQ. Current work schedule is a 48 hour week.

Hours of work, pay, and benefits are as outlined in the Lunenburg Firefighters Collective Bargaining Agreement. A copy of the job description is attached with this notice. Candidate hired must sign an employment agreement to obtain and/or maintain Paramedic certification during time of employment.
