Recycling IQ Inspector

The Town of Lunenburg is seeking applications from qualified individuals for the position of Recycling IQ Inspectors. The Inspector will work in a team on the Recycling IQ Program, a grant funded program of the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection that aims to improve the quality of local recycling programs through a two-pronged approach: education and feedback at the curbside. Responsibilities include inspecting recycling at the curbside for proper recycling contents, tagging and recording recycling that do not contain proper recycling contents; educating residents at the curbside on trash and recycling rules for the curbside collection program. The ideal candidate will have a passion for the environment and a desire to make a difference; ability to work with people with a wide variety of backgrounds; ability to follow instructions; ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, use hands to handle and feel, reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; or smell. Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to use close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Must possess a valid Driver’s License and a working vehicle. This is a temporary, non-union, non-benefited position, from September 9 to November 8, mornings, up to 4 days/week; $17.00/hr plus mileage.
