Lunenburg has two major cemeteries:
The North Cemetery is located on Holman Street at the corner of Highland Street, and the South Cemetery is located on Page Street off of Lancaster Avenue.
Cemetery Commissioners:
The Cemetery Commission is an elected three member Commission with terms of three years each. The board of cemetery commissioners have the responsibility to make regulations governing the care, superintendence and management of all public burial grounds in Lunenburg and to lay out existing public burial grounds and may lot out in lots or other suitale subdivision with proper paths, lanes and ways appropriate for burial use any other land acquired by the town for burial purposes. The day-to-day care and maintenance of the cemeteries shall be under the supervision of the Town Manager, which has been delegated to the DPW Director as the Cemetery is a division under the Department of Public Works.
