Charter Review Committee

The Charter Review Committee will hold a Public Hearing on Wednesday, January 9, 2019, at 7:00 pm, at the Lunenburg Middle/High School Auditorium. This meeting will be televised over the Town’s PACC channel and then posted on YouTube. The Public Hearing will be to hear and discuss proposed changes to the Town of Lunenburg Charter. The proposed changes will:

1. Change the name of the Board of Selectmen to Select Board.

2. Change the manner of selection of the Town Clerk from elected to appointed by the Town Manager subject to ratification by the Select Board.

At least once in every ten years a special committee to consist of nine (9) members shall be established for the purpose of reviewing the Town Charter and making a report, with recommendations, to the Town Meeting concerning proposed amendments which said committee may determine to be necessary or desirable. The committee shall consist of nine (9) members who shall be chosen as follows: the Board of Selectmen, the Finance Committee and the School Committee shall each designate two (2) persons, the Planning Board
