Animal Control Department

The Office of Animal Control Officer is now under the auspices of the Lunenburg Police Department (655 Massachusetts Avenue, Lunenburg, MA  01462).

Animal Control assists in enforcing federal and state laws and county ordinances pertaining to animals and the safety, health, and welfare of the public. They also respond to citizen calls for services, and complaints, and help to resolve conflicts between parties involving animal care.

All animal-related calls should be routed through the Nashoba Valley Dispatch at 978-582-4531.

We appreciate your patience as we begin to re-organize animal control services in Lunenburg.

Dog Licenses

  • Correct format of address
  • Dogs must be licensed by April 1st annually
  • Dogs must have a current Rabies certificate to qualify for licensing
  • Unspayed Female/Unaltered Male: $20 fee
  • Spayed Female/Altered Male: $5 fee
  • Late Fee: $25
