5/24/2012 - Town Manager Announces Appointment of Fire Chief

On Wednesday, May 23, 2012, Town Manager Kerry Speidel announced the appointment of Patrick A. Sullivan to the position of Fire Chief effective August 1, 2012.  The appointment is subject to ratification by the Board of Selectmen, which is scheduled for June 12, 2012.

Sullivan currently serves as Call Deputy Fire Chief for the Lunenburg Fire Department and has since April 2007.  Sullivan has been a member of the Lunenburg Call Fire Department since 1983.  Sullivan also serves a Captain for the Maynard Fire Department and has worked for that department on a full-time basis since 1988.  Sullivan is a Lunenburg resident, a graduate of Lunenburg High School and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Fire Science from Anna Maria College in Paxton, MA.  In addition, Sullivan is a registered EMT and a Master Diver.  He is a founding member of the Greater Montachusett Regional Dive Team.  In 1994, Sullivan was awarded an American Legion Medal for his role in rescuing a victim from a submerged vehicle in Lake Whalom.

Sullivan was chosen from a field of 25 well qualified applicants.
